Hussein Ahmed and his family have thanked AUSSOM troops stationed at Hoosingo Forward Operating Base (FOB) for saving his life following an Al-Shabaab ambush along the Baghdad–Koromi route near Hoosingo Township on 28 January 2026.
Responding to a distress call after militants opened fire on a civilian vehicle, hijacked it, and fled the scene, AUSSOM medical personnel administered immediate life-saving Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) to the 33-year-old before evacuating him to camp, preventing loss of life.
On 29 January, Hussein was airlifted to Dhobley Level II hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.
Hussein’s gratitude underscores AUSSOM’s continued commitment to protecting civilians in remote and high-risk areas.
