Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamse Abdi Barre, announced the National Government’s decision to pardon Somali students who did not sit for the 12th Grade Exam in the 2015/2016 school year.
These 28,000 students had boycotted the exam due to circumstances recognized as legitimate demands. Therefore, the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education has proposed that the government allow these students to be awarded 12th grade certificates from the ministry, as it holds all their records.
This announcement addresses a long standing issue for thousands of Somali students affected by the 2015/2016 exam during that turbulent period in Somalia’s history.
