Three Somali youths were killed last nights in Khayelitsha, on the outskirts of Cape Town, and another was wounded after armed gangs attacked three shops.
​A young Malawian employee also lost his life in the armed attack.
​According to reports, these killings are likely linked to a split within the local gangs that extort protection money from Somali-owned shops, following an internal dispute.
​The gangs, having disagreed over the extortion payments collected from Somali businesses, have reportedly split into three factions and have begun attacking shops in an attempt to demand additional money.
