Al-Shabaab militants who attacked the Nuu Dugle area in Middle Shabelle region this morning have retreated from the location after a brief but intense clash involving explosives and gunfire.
The group’s media announced the initial assault early today, claiming temporary control, but Macawisley forces operating inside the area quickly regained it.
Nuu Dugle, a strategically important village, hosts People’s Defense Forces (Macawisley) internally, with Somali National Army (SNA) troops stationed nearby.
They received strong support from elite Gorgor and Danab commandos, backed by airstrikes from international partner warplanes.
The militants eventually withdrew toward adjacent forests, as government forces declared a tactical victory.
