Former Turkish PM Ahmet_Davutoglu described Israel’s recognition of Somaliland as a dangerous strategic move aimed at dividing Somalia and encircling the Islamic world.
He warned that this step could push Somalia toward a Sudan-like civil war and give Israel a critical advantage along the Red Sea–Gulf of Aden corridor through the Port of Berbera.
Davutoğlu said the development effectively surrounds Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, which maintains a military base in Somalia, and called it “humiliating” for the Islamic world as the war in Gaza continues.
He urged the Turkish government to urgently intervene, as it did in 2013, to launch a strong diplomatic initiative to prevent Somalia’s fragmentation.
