Chad closed its border with Sudan.

Share

Chad has closed its border with Sudan until further notice following multiple clashes between its soldiers and armed groups linked to Sudan’s ongoing civil war.

According to Communications Minister Mahamat Gassim Cherif, the decision comes after repeated incursions and violations by forces involved in the Sudan conflict on Chadian territory.

Chad says it reserves the right to retaliate against any aggression and has suspended all cross‑border movement of goods and people, with only limited humanitarian exceptions.

For nearly three years, Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been fighting government troops.

RSF activities near the Chad border have escalated, and at least nine Chadian soldiers have been killed in incidents since December.
