AUSSOMÂ welcomed the new contingent of Ghana Formed Police Unit. The GFPU-5 deployed to Mogadishu, Baidoa and Beletweyne to support the Somali Police Force (SPF) through joint operations, specialised training and mentorship aimed at strengthening policing capabilities.
The incoming team replaced GFPU-4, whose personnel completed their tour of duty after implementing the AUSSOM mandate through close collaboration with SPF.
AUSSOM Police Coordinator, ACP Dr Samuel Asiedu Okanta, called on the officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and conduct in supporting the Somali-led Peace Security & Stabilisation process.
