The Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, held a meeting with the Defence Attaché of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Somalia, Major General Ahmed Fathi Abdel Sattar.
The meeting focused on strengthening military cooperation between Somalia and Egypt, particularly in the areas of military training, support to the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), and the development of the capabilities of the Somali National Armed Forces.
The Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces underscored the importance of further enhancing the longstanding ties and strategic partnership between the two countries, noting Egypt’s significant role in supporting Somalia’s security institutions.
For his part, the Egyptian Defence Attaché reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continuing its support for Somalia, particularly in the areas of security, stability, military training, and the capacity-building of defence institutions.
