The deputy Chairperson of the African Union Amb. Selma Malika Haddadi announced and reaffirmed AUC’s commitment to Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity following meeting with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.

Today, on behalf of AfricanUnion Commission Chairperson H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf , I had the honour of meeting H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the President of the Republic of Somalia.
I reaffirmed AUC’s unwavering commitment to Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and our continued support for Somali-led security and stabilisation.
I commended President Mohamud’s leadership against Al-Shabaab and the significant gains made by Somali forces, and welcomed his efforts to advance inclusive dialogue ahead of the upcoming presidential elections a landmark moment for Somalia’s democracy.
We also discussed the financing challenges facing AUSSOM and the importance of finding sustainable, predictable and shared solutions.
I assured the President of the AUC’s steadfast partnership in delivering programs on Agenda 2063, including through AUSSOM, and our readiness to accompany Somalia as it prepares for the forthcoming elections.
