Somalia reorganised two Police Military battalions

Share

The Federal Government of Somalia  has reorganized the Military Police battalions of the Somali National Army , changing the former numbering of the 22nd and 23rd Battalions, and designating them as the 73rd and 74th Battalions of the SNA.

Well-informed sources state that this change is part of a broader plan to restructure the Military Police, with expectations that additional battalions will be introduced in the near future to build a complete division with a unified capability and structure.

Meanwhile, there are reports indicating that another plan is underway concerning the security of the capital, Mogadishu. Under this plan, the 77th Presidential Guard Battalion, is expected to officially take over security stations in Mogadishu if the plan succeeds.

Government officials have not yet officially commented on these plans, but these changes are seen as reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen the reform of security institutions and enhance the structure of the armed forces.
