Six security officers from the Special Operations Group (SOG), including a police reservist, were killed in a suspected extremist ambush in the Qurquraa area near Alungu, Mandera County.
Reports indicate that one security vehicle was also set ablaze during the attack.
The incident comes just hours after security forces successfully repelled a militant probe on the Damasa Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the same region, with no casualties reported in that earlier engagement.
Security forces were patrolling in the main supply routes to secure.
The officers are pursuing the attackers to face justice for their coward actions.
