Ethiopia participated in the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Troop-Contributing Countries (TCCs) to the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), held in Kampala, Uganda.
During the summit, the Ethiopian delegation underscored the country’s steadfast commitment to achieving lasting peace and security in Somalia.
Ethiopia firmly reiterated its determination to safeguard the hard-won gains in the fight against terrorism and to prevent any reversal of the progress achieved so far.
The delegation emphasized that the immense sacrifices made by thousands of brave Somalis, Ethiopians, Ugandans, Kenyans, Burundians, and Djiboutians, who paid the ultimate price with their lives, must be protected. In this regard, Ethiopia reaffirmed that it will continue to fully support the African Union’s efforts to preserve these critical security gains and will work closely with regional and international partners to promote sustainable peace and stability in the region.
It was further recalled that, for more than two decades, members of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces have served with dedication, professionalism, and courage under successive African Union missions in Somalia, making significant sacrifices in the cause of regional peace and security.
