The Federal Government of Somalia has deployed units of Danab Brigade to increase security in Baidoa and iys surroundings.
This comes following repeated attacks from Former Southwest State leader Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagaren militias stationed at outskirt of Baidoa.
Also several times Al shahab terrorists militants attacked the city.
Additional deployment and increased checkpoints have seen residents in Baidoa.
Laftagaren says he is the legitimate leader of Southwest State but Federal Army alongside local forces ousted him on March 30 2026.
Recent attacks killed dozens of Al shabab and Laftagaren’s militias ber Federal Government.
Ministry of Defence said also its Army seized Armoured Vehicles from Laftagaren’s militias, which previously captured by Al shabab.
