The residents of the Galmudug and Hirshabelle states of Somalia went to the polling stations to vote local and regional parliamentary members.
The Elections Commission announced that 21 districts from both states began voting this morning.
The Commissioner says all Election materials and staff mobilised, security tightened and voting began peacefully.
Galmudug state elections are rerun following supreme Court decision last month over irregularities and fraud accusations.
But Hirshabelle elections are new today, most of those voting today are their first time exercising their rights .
In April the Commission held local and regional assembly elections in Southwest State also last December Mogadishu votes for the first time since Central Government collapsed in 1991.
