Türkiye’s new Ambassador to Somalia, Ferhat Alkan, and the Commander of TURKSOM, Major General Sabahattin Kalkan, accompanied by a Turkish delegation, visited Warsheekh in Somalia’s Middle Shabelle region.
The delegation visited the area where Türkiye is developing a satellite launch and space facility, with Somalia expected to conduct its first satellite launch from the site in 2027.
The visit comes as the Somali government has also announced plans for Turkish investors to develop a major new port near Warsheekh, alongside a special economic zone and industrial facilities, as part of the proposed “New Mogadishu” development project.
Recently Türkiye announced it will invest new port in Somalia to $4B dollars to enhance the Business relations between the two sisterly States.
