The East African Community Member States have adopted new budget funding formula to accelerate the bloc’s activities.
Kenya’s budgetary contributions to the East African Community will rise 67 percent from the current $7 million to $11.6 million in the next financial year, under a newly adopted funding formula recommended by presidents at the last summit in Arusha.
Tanzania the second largest economy in the bloc also increased its contribution.
The new model requires East African Community Members to pay 50% of the budget as equal share, while the remaining 50% will be calculated proportionally based the Members’Â Economiy strength.
