Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan asks his National Assembly to extend his Naval forces operating in Somalia waters.
A presidential motion to extend the mandate of the Turkish Armed Forces’ naval elements operating in the Gulf of Aden, Somalia’s territorial waters and offshore areas, the Arabian Sea, and adjacent regions for an additional year.
starting from 10 February 2026 has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
Somalia and Turkey signed several security agreements including Turkey support Somalia’s water and Coastal security, security training, economic developments, oil and gas drilling, and other agreements which both countries agreed to work closely.
For the last fiveteen years Turkey was working in deferent sides in Somalia .
