Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Houthi-affiliated Supreme Political Council in Sanaa, criticised moves by Somaliland towards normalising relations with Israel, calling it a “serious mistake” that threatens Yemen and regional stability.

He also warned against any new “American or Zionist aggression” against Yemen and the wider region.

Al-Mashat said his forces were ready to continue fighting until the “liberation of the last inch” of Yemeni territory, while reaffirming Sanaa’s support for Palestine, Lebanon and Iran.

In a speech marking the 36th anniversary of Yemeni unity, he said the “US-Israeli enemy” was no longer hiding what he described as the “Greater Israel” project, adding that the war on Iran aimed to remove the “main obstacle” to Israeli plans in the region.

He also warned Israel against continuing what he called its “aggression against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples”, urging Arab and Islamic governments to take action to stop what he described as “Zionist crimes” rather than issuing statements of condemnation.

Al-Mashat stressed that Yemen would not accept any partition plans or attempts to undermine its unity, accusing the United States and Saudi Arabia of seeking to divide the country through war, blockade and support for their allied groups.
