Abdirizak Mohamed was one of the Jubaland soldiers captured by Al-Shabaab during the Kudhaa Island attack.
Many of his friends also fell into Al-Shabaab’s hands.
They captured them and filmed footage of him along with several of his friends held as hostages.
However, the Somali National Army, DANAB forces, and international allies conducted airstrikes on the location holding the prisoners.
Nearly 200 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the strike, allowing Abdirizak Mohamed to escape the enemy who had him captive and planned to execute him.
The allied forces continue clearing the Kudhaa Island and still recovering wounded and surviving Al-Shabaab members, while the prisoners held yesterday were freed from the knife of the terrorists.
