Madagascar’s President Michael Randrianirina has unveiled a new 30‑member cabinet, marking his first major reshuffle.
The overhaul follows the dissolution of the previous administration earlier this month. The new government includes 17 returning ministers and 13 newcomers, with nine women appointed.
Randrianirina said the administration had not relied solely on traditional background checks, ‌but had turned instead to technologies that have become inseparable from modern life.
There had been local media reports that prospective ministers would also be required to pass a polygraph test.
Randrianirina, who took office after protests pushed out former President Andry Rajoelina last October, has pledged to hand power back to civilians within two years.
