The Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmud, held a high-level meeting in Ankara with Turkey’s Minister of Defense, Yaşar Güler, and the Chief of the Turkish General Staff, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.
The meeting focused on strengthening Turkey’s military support to Somalia and increasing the training provided by the Turkish government to the Somali National Army, with both sides discussing ways to further enhance defense and security cooperation between the two countries.
The fact that the Turkish Minister of Defense and the Military Commander held a meeting with the Somali commander demonstrates the advanced level of military relations between the two governments.
Turkey is the second-largest nation in NATO and a member of the Islamic alliance led by Saudi Arabia.
