The Somali Government has banned all military and cargo aircraft owned or leased by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from entering the country’s airspace.
This follows suspicions that they secretly transported a Yemeni Houthi leader who was “on the run,” without permission or prior knowledge from Somalia’s security agencies, according to security sources.
Those sources added that one of six UAE military and cargo planes that landed at Somali airports violated the federal government’s order twiceāon Friday and Saturday.
The federal government has threatened to take further actions.
The ban on UAE flights does not affect civilian aircraft such as FlyDubai, the sources said.
