Dr. Dan Diker, President of the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, stated that the main reason Israel moved toward recognizing Somaliland was its alleged willingness to absorb over 1.2 million people from Gaza.
This was not humanitarian concern it was a transaction, with population transfer as the currency and recognition as the reward
Coming from a hardline Israeli security think tank, this framing exposes how Gaza’s civilians are being reduced to a security problem to be exported elsewhere.
Even worse, it implicates the secessionist one-clan enclave calling itself Somaliland as a willing participant in the displacement of innocent Palestinians.
This is not solidarity it is complicity.
And inside Somalia, such a move would be seen as illegitimate, imposed, and existentially dangerous, pushing the country toward serious internal conflict, even civil war.
