Türkiye denies interfering Somali political process

Türkiye department of anti misinformation and propaganda has denied that the Republic of Türkiye involves Somalia’s internal affairs specially politics when time of political termol is looming.

“The claims shared on some social media accounts, aimed at manipulating public opinion, that “Türkiye is interfering in Somalia’s internal political processes and is using its military forces to put pressure on the Somali opposition and support a specific political actor”, are entirely unfounded.

The Republic of Türkiye has for many years maintained legitimate cooperation with the Federal Government of Somalia, in full accordance with international law, with the aim of strengthening Somalia’s security, stability and institutional capacity.

Türkiye’s military presence and training activities in Somalia are directed toward restructuring the Somali National Army, modernising security institutions, and improving counter-terrorism capabilities.

Turkish military personnel have absolutely no involvement in Somalia’s electoral processes or internal political dynamics. Türkiye supports the peaceful continuation of Somalia’s democratic process and fully respects both the sovereignty of the country and the will of the Somali people.

We strongly urge that such posts spreading disinformation and black propaganda efforts aimed at undermining the deep-rooted relations between Türkiye and the friendly, brotherly Somali people should not be given any credence.” Said the agency
