A Turkish delegation led by the deputy head of Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) is expected to arrive in Mogadishu to facilitate dialogue between Somalia’s Federal Government and opposition leaders amid growing tensions over the country’s electoral process.
The delegation is scheduled to hold separate meetings with senior government officials and opposition figures in an effort to narrow differences and encourage a political settlement. The visit comes as international partners increase calls for dialogue and consensus on the electoral roadmap.
Sources also indicate that a high-level Turkish delegation, expected to include Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, could visit Mogadishu in the coming weeks as Ankara steps up its diplomatic engagement in support of stability and political dialogue in Somalia.
