Somali state minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Omar told Al Jazeera that the UAE improperly used Somalia’s airspace by smuggling “fugitive” Yemeni separatist leader Aidarous al-Zubaidi through his country, which was the “last straw” that pushed Somalia to cancel all agreements with the UAE.
Minister Ali Omar says that Somalia is still investigating the matter but have sufficient information of Al <span;>Zubaidi’s smuggle tactic used by UAE to airlift from Mogadishu to Dubai.
The Minister said that there are many reasons behind Somalia’s decision to terminate agreements with UAE and this matter was one of them.
