US withdrawn its ambassador to Somalia, other countries

Share

The United States has removed ineffective ambassadors to nearly 30 countries, effective immediately, including the ambassador to South Somalia. The U.S. Embassy in Mogadishu has become a liability, not an asset, actively obstructing the development of a serious and effective American policy on the peninsula.

Washington needs a clear, unapologetic strategy that works with credible and capable partners on the ground, not careerist diplomats who are more concerned with résumé-building than advancing American foreign policy.

The Department of State must abandon vague, blanket diplomacy and replace it with focused, results-driven engagement.

Secretary Marco Rubio must implement an America-first partnership model, grounded in security, counterterrorism, and economic cooperation, not welfare dependency and ideological social-engineering projects masquerading as diplomacy.

U.S. foreign policy should reflect American interests and the foundational principles of serious statecraft, not activist-driven agendas disconnected from reality.

Nowhere is this failure more evident than on the Somali Peninsula. For years, Washington has cycled through ineffective, detached diplomats whose primary function appears to be managing decline rather than preventing it. Their approach does not prioritize American interests, nor does it build reliable partnerships. It produces dependency, corruption, and hostility toward the United States.

The repeated failures of the European Union and the United Nations in propping up the collapsed Somali federal experiment should serve as a final warning.

This model does not work. It has never worked. And it will never work.

If partners on the ground, including those in Mogadishu, fail to wake up to the reality that counterterrorism cooperation and economic partnerships create allies, while endless aid creates subordinates, then the United States must move on.

America does not need more underperforming, corrupt, welfare-dependent structures.

The United States needs partners, not liabilities.
