​Reliable Government sources confirmed us that the meeting held in Halane Camp focused on ongoing elections disputes between Federal Government of Somalia and opposition leaders.
​the opposition suggested complete suspension of local and regional elections specially the elections in Southwest State.
​ The opposition justified this demand by citing the need for a broad political consensus before proceeding with any electoral activities.
​The Federal Government strongly rejected this demand, Officials clarified that holding regional state elections and the local council elections are the Federal Government’s duties and never revised Mogadishu local elections and the current ongoing elections in Southwest State.
There is no final decision yet but both sides agreed to meet again tomorrow to discuss current topics.
On other side opposition members are meeting tonight Raas Hotel to analyze the outcomes of today’s talks and identify what they perceive as the primary obstacles to progress and to their views on elections and Government’s term ending on Friday.
