The United States Citizenship and immigration services announced the extention of the temporary protected status for the Nationals from Somalia and Syria.
Employment authorization documents for individuals granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Syria have been extended through July 27, 2026; and for Somalia through July 29, 2026.
The continued brief extensions come in the wake of the Supreme Court’s June 2026 decision allowing the Trump Administration to terminate TPS for Haiti and Syria, which is impacting ongoing litigation and DHS termination efforts for several other countries.
USCIS continues to briefly extend TPS EADs for the above countries following the June 25 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the Trump Administration could proceed with its plan to terminate the TPS designations for Haiti and Syria. The Supreme Court decision is affecting the outcome of all ongoing TPS litigation, including for Somalia.
