The Minister of Defense of Somalia, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, held a high-level meeting with the Minister of Defense of China, Admiral Dong Jun, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding defense and security cooperation.
​Minister Fiqi briefed Admiral Dong Jun on Somalia’s security progress, the war against terrorism, and the reconstruction of the Somali National Army, while Admiral Dong Jun commended Somalia’s efforts.
​Both sides agreed to accelerate defense and security cooperation and implement existing memorandums of understanding to enhance peace and stability in Somalia and the region.
China supports Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while the tiny Taiwan support secessionist region of Northern Somalia.
