The Federal Republic of Somalia has extended condolences to Ethiopia following a deadly landslide at Tsadqane Debre Mitmaq St. Mary Monastery in North Shewa Zone of the Amhara region that killed at least 14 worshippers and injured seven others.
In a statement issued on 05 August, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said it “extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies” to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, its leadership, government, and people following the disaster.
“The Federal Republic of Somalia stands in solidarity with Ethiopia during this difficult time,” the ministry said, adding that it conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, expressed sympathy to the injured, and commended ongoing search and rescue efforts.
The statement also wished those injured “a swift and full recovery,” while expressing continued support for Ethiopia and its people during what it described as a challenging period.
