The Deputy Commander of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Sam Okiding, was warmly welcomed today at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
​Lieutenant General Sam Okiding will participate in the Conference of Defence Force Commanders of the Troop-Contributing Countries to the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The conference will focus on strengthening security cooperation, accelerating counter-terrorism operations, and supporting the Somali National Army.
His visit arrives at critical time, last week AUSSOM troops contributing Countries heads of state met in Kampala Uganda to review the mission’s future following US decision to pull its support.
African leaders said they will not abandon Somalia whether US support halted or continued.
