Federal Government reactivates the Military Police

Share

The Federal Government of Somalia  has increased the number of forces tasked with securing the capital, Mogadishu, by reactivating the military-trained police.

These forces have been spotted at newly established checkpoints conducting vehicle and neighborhood searches.

Security officials state that this move comes after al-Shabaab carried out several attacks in the outskirts and central parts of Mogadishu over the past few days.

Across most security checkpoints in Mogadishu, police, NISA (National Intelligence and Security Agency), and military forces can be seen operating jointly a measure described as an effort to reinforce the security of Mogadishu, which has experienced significant changes over the past three years.
