The Federal Government of Somalia has stated that, for the first time in 35 years, it is securing the country’s borders.
Somali Minister of Defense Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, speaking at the graduation ceremony of hundreds of DANAB special forces, stated that the government has succeeded in building the forces and that their primary task now is securing the nation’s borders.
”The young Al-Shabaab boys are nothing to fear; what lies ahead of us is to close and secure our borders,” Fiqi said.
The United States concluded the training of hundreds of Danab soldiers at Baledogle, an event also attended by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
Recently, Prime Minister Hamza stated that the government has completed the training and equipping, and is now paying the salaries of 25,000 members of the Somali National Armed Forces.
