Somali National Army SNA has launched new offence against Al shabab to regain Hawadley Village in middle shabelle region.
Hawadley is outskirt of Bal’ad district, it is strategic town in the region, were Al shabab captured last year.
In recent hours, fresh military reinforcements have arrived to support existing troops positioned around Bal’ad to participate in the planned government offensive.
Military officials stated that the main objective is to capture Hawadley, which has been a strategic stronghold for Al-Shabaab for several months.
Previously, AU Burundian forces withdrew from the area after Al-Shabaab flooded them Shabelle river water forcing their evacuation.
The Somali army continues to push to regain control of key territories from the militants and improve security in the Middle Shabelle region.
