Guinea-Bissau has reaffirmed its commitment of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Social media posts promoted by the secessionist region of the Northwestern Somalia claimed that Guinea-Bissau is preparing to recognize the region.
Statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities refutes claims circulating on social media that Guinea-Bissau is considering recognising the so-called “Republic of Somaliland.”
The Government of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau has neither taken nor is considering any decision to that effect.
Guinea-Bissau’s foreign policy remains firmly grounded in respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States and the principles of the United Nations Charter and the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
