The Speaker of the National Assembly of Djibouti, Hon. Dileita Mohamed Dileita, received today Amb. El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, SRCC for Somalia and Head of AUSSOM, accompanied by Deputy SRCC, Amb. Mouktar Osman Karie.
Discussions focused on the political and security situation in Somalia and the Horn of Africa. The Head of AUSSOM praised the role played by the Republic of Djibouti in promoting lasting peace in Somalia and the region, citing the peaceful actions initiated by the country’s highest authorities and the unfailing commitment of the Djiboutian contingent deployed in Somalia.
The Speaker of the National Assembly renewed Djibouti’s unwavering engagement and recalled the initiatives undertaken over decades prioritising dialogue, peace, stability and security in Somalia, the Horn of Africa and the continent as a whole.
The Arta Conference was cited as an example illustrating this determination of Djibouti leadership supported by the people, as well as the Peace Memorial, which was inaugurated in October 2025 in the same city on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Conference.
AUSSOM SRCC, H.E. El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, accompanied by Deputy SRCC, H.E. Mouktar Osman Karie, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Defence in charge of Relations with Parliament of the Republic of Djibouti, Hon. Hassan Omar Mohamed Bourhan, and the Chief General Staff, Lt. Gen. Zakaria Cheick Ibrahim.
Both sides discussed on the mutual engagement to support the Somali-led political, peace, security process.
The meeting allowed the SRCC to appreciate Djibouti as a key AUSSOM Troop Contributing Country as well as other peace and security efforts for a stable region.
Amb. Diene also briefed the Djiboutian defence leadership on the implementation of AUSSOM mandate in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), the Somali Security Forces, the United Nations and other partners.
