Somalia’s Federal Government reacts rejection of the old version one thousand shilling notes in Mogadishu.
Minister of commerce Jamal said printing new banknotes is the job of the Central Bank but as he aware of there are efforts to get new currency.
“Although it’s Central Bank’s job, as i know, there is a process underway to get new banknotes, they are discussing if the new Currency will have fixed price against USD like Djibouti, Saudi Arabia or other countries or if the price exchanges by dynamics or daily bases.” Said Minister Jamal.
Businesses in Mogadishu refused accepting the only local depreciated one thousand shilling banknotes.
