Morocco’s Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, announced that his country will provide 120 scholarships to Somali students each year to join universities, technical institutes, and vocational programs.
The Foreign Ministers of Somalia and Morocco also signed a new coordination roadmap that will establish cooperation between the two countries for the period 2026–2028.
The planned agreement focuses on strengthening high-level visits and developing cooperation in key areas including agriculture, maritime fisheries, tourism, renewable energy, training, and higher education.
This move came after Somalia recently voted in the United Nations Security Council to recognize Western Sahara as part of Morocco and grant it its own autonomous region, which Morocco thanked Somalia.
