The President of Kenya, William Ruto took closed doors meeting with Somali politicians while also making a pledge.
Ruto urged Somalis to unite behind a single presidential candidate, promising that he would support that individual after his own second term in office ends.
”You can become the president of this country; why are you jealous of one another? Have you ever seen the Kalenjin people dividing themselves?” he asked the Somali leaders.
He criticized them for not supporting one another despite sharing the same religion, language, and background.
Additionally, he called on Somalis to register to vote.
He stated, “You see a city with 300,000 residents who hold identity cards, but only 30,000 turn out for the election.”
