The Cabinet of the Federal Republic of Somalia, in its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, approved important laws and agreements for the country.
Among the approved laws is the Somali Penal Code, following extensive consultations with religious scholars, civil society, and legal experts, ensuring alignment with Islamic law, the national constitution, and international human rights standards.
The Cabinet also thoroughly discussed the establishment of the Environmental Management Agency, the first of its kind in Somalia, in light of worsening climate change and severe environmental degradation.The laws and agreements approved include: A cooperation agreement between the Governments of Somalia and Algeria on petroleum, gas, and mineral resources.
