Somalia Reaffirms Solidarity with Kuwait and Urges Peaceful Dialogue on Maritime Submissions
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia has closely followed the submission by the Republic of Iraq of maritime coordinate lists to the United Nations and the potential implications that may affect the sovereignty of the brotherly State of Kuwait.
The Federal Republic of Somalia reaffirms its full solidarity with the State of Kuwait in safeguarding its sovereignty and its established maritime zones. Somalia underscores the importance of respecting international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982), United Nations Security Council Resolution 833 (1993), and relevant bilateral agreements.
Somalia values the deep historical and fraternal relations between the two brotherly nations and encourages constructive dialogue, restraint, and peaceful means to address any differences, in a manner that strengthens regional stability and good neighborliness.
