Somalia’s army chief hosted AUSSOM troops contributing Countries Commanders to review the mission’s future after Kampala meeting.
AUSSOM Force Commander, Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma, led African Union and AUSSOM delegation to the Conference of Chiefs of Defence Forces of Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) to AUSSOM Plus Somalia.
The meeting was convened pursuant to the decisions of the Kampala Summit held on 31 July 2026 to translate the Summit’s strategic directives into military planning and operational actions.
Discussions covered the prevailing security situation, the progress of ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab, transition plan, force generation and sustainment.
Delegates focused on the measures to strengthen coordination among the TCCs and the Federal Government of Somalia in support of AUSSOM’s mandate and #Somalia’s security transition.
