The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced plans to open competitive bidding for Somalia’s oil blocks by the end of the year.
Director General Mohamed Hashi Arabey confirmed the upcoming licensing round aimed at attracting global energy investors.
The Ministry held workshop for its staff and national petroleum agency staff.
Somalia has more than 200 oil blocks, and less than 15 blocks won by International investors as the director said.
Mr Arabey thanks president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and PM Hamze Abdi Barre for their efforts to produce Somalia’s natural resources.
