The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia welcomes the decision of the Court of Appeal for East Africa issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, which nullified previous rulings suspending the constitutional swearing-in of elected Somali Representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
The Ministry congratulates the nine members of the East African Legislative Assembly elected by the Federal Parliament of Somalia, reaffirms its commitment to regional integration and cooperation with partner countries in the East African Group on shared priorities, including trade, transport, development and regional stability.
With the strengthening of the Federal Republic of Somalia’s diplomatic participation within the East African Economic Group, the Ministry remains committed to ensuring effective representation in all EEFA organizations and institutions, with the aim of promoting Somalia’s national interests and regional integration.
