Somalia’s Civil Aviation Authority yesterday suspended from service at least seven aircraft that had been conducting domestic flights, most of which are registered in Malawi in East Africa, due to seizure/maintenance issues that were seen as potentially faulty and dangerous to passengers.
To restart their flights, it has been tied to the companies using them to re-verify the maintenance of these aircraft, as officials from Mogadishu Airport confirmed, noting that the civil aviation authority has begun inspections to identify the overall maintenance of aircraft operating inside Somalia, to avoid dangers that could endanger passengers.
This decision represents the largest number of aircraft operating inside Somalia that have been suspended from work at one time, at a time when most complaints had been submitted about the aircraft used by local airlines, which are considered to have been operating for a long time and endangering the Somali people.
This decision comes after last week civilian aircraft  crashed near Mogadishu sea offshores.
No casualties at that incident all 55 passengers evacuated safely.
