Somalia’s Two houses session approved the new constitution, some changes of the 4th and 13th Chapters of the Constitution.
185 lower house members and 37 upper house members voted in favor of the new constitution.
As the constitution says at least 2/3 of the two houses joint session can adopt new constitutional votes.
Lower house Speaker Aden Madobe said that one upper house member voted from online, he said that the new constitution received enough votes of 222 members of the 330 two houses members and that is equal to the 2/3 quato.
No vote against or abstained as the Speaker told to the media.
Federal member states of Puntland and Jubbaland are against this new constitution, but most of their representatives voted today.
