Sudan’s Prime Minister Kamil Idris and his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly jointly rejected Ethiopia’s “unilateral actions” regarding the Blue Nile on Thursday. Egypt pledged full support to Sudan’s new government during Idris’s first foreign trip since his appointment.
Idris arrived in Cairo leading a high-level delegation on his first trip since becoming Prime Minister in May.
In a joint statement from the talks, both sides reaffirmed their rejection of Ethiopia’s unilateral approach to Blue Nile issues, calling it inconsistent with international law principles and the spirit of cooperation.
The leaders also emphasized continuing coordination on Nile matters through the Joint Technical Committee on Nile Waters, responsible for unifying their positions.
