The Turkish government forces recently deployed to Somalia have been activated for the first time in the Middle Shabelle region.
These forces, equipped with various types of weapons, have been stationed at the Bashaqle base in the Middle Shabelle region.
In the coming days, these forces will also deploy to the remaining bases in Qorilow, Hawadley, Jabad Godane, Warciise, and Wargadhi.
According to a senior security official the highly trained Turkish forces will fight alongside the elite Gorgor special forces, who were also trained in the city of Sparta in Turkey.
The Turkish government is prioritizing efforts to clear Al-Shabaab from both Shabelle regions, which border the Somali capital Mogadishu, and it is securing the security of its assets in Somalia, such as the Spaceport and military base.
On the other hand, the Turkish government this week delivered a large amount of military equipment to Somalia, and heavy weapons were first observed being handed over to the Somali government in Mogadishu.
