Turkish Government shipped to Somalia Turkish made BMC Kirpi armored vehicles before the arrival of the Somalia’s 21st Gorgor Commandos battalion.
The 21st Gorgor Commandos battalion is the first battalion completed Turkish training as a battalion and will arrive coming days.
Before their arrival the Turkish Government uploaded in Mogadisho military equipment to the newly trained forces.
Videos filmed at Mogadishu Port appear to show BMC Kirpi armored vehicles being unloaded from a vessel.
Türkiye has previously supplied the same type of mine-resistant vehicles to Somalia’s Gorgor special forces.
The development comes as Türkiye has intensified its military support for Somalia in recent months.
Somalia’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, traveled to Türkiye on Sunday for an official visit, while the Commander of the Somali Army’s Infantry Forces is also in the country on a separate assignment.
